The heart of Tonga Holiday Villa

Paea was also a passionate sportswoman, proudly representing Tonga in women's soccer and netball. She spent many years playing and coaching in her community, inspiring young athletes right up until 2022 following the Hunga Tonga–Hunga Haʻapai eruption.

When her children moved overseas, that decision is how Tonga Holiday Villa came to life — a place where guests can feel at home while experiencing the true spirit of Tonga, with a full kitchen, comfortable living spaces, and everything you need for a relaxed stay.

A home for every kind of guest

Next door is Paea's Guest House, which offers a more personal homestay feel with private rooms, and we also manage another three-bedroom property close to town that can be booked by the room or as a whole home. This allows us to welcome all kinds of guests, from solo travellers to large family groups.

Over a decade of hosting

We have now been operating for over 10 years, and we are really proud of the strong track record we have built along the way. The positive reviews and returning guests mean a lot to us, and it reminds us that what we are doing truly matters.

Sharing the real Tonga

Paea has a deep love for Tonga, its history, and its culture, and she genuinely enjoys sharing that with visitors. Even before tourism became what it is today, she was making handicrafts and selling them at local markets. These days, she brings that same passion into the tours she offers, helping guests experience the real Tonga beyond just the beaches.

Giving back

Tourism is important for families like ours, and through this journey, Paea has also been able to support others in the community, providing small employment opportunities and giving back to the church whenever she can.

At home, she is also a full-time carer for her 16-year-old adopted son, who lives with autism and experiences frequent epilepsy episodes. Even with these challenges, she continues to give so much of herself to her family, her guests, and everyone around her.

From her garden to your table

She also spends time every day in her gardens, which she takes great pride in. Many of the fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants she grows — like breadfruit, bananas, papaya, mango, avocado, guava, and more — are shared with guests and used around the home.

Now at almost 70 years old, Paea is still as hardworking and caring as ever. She is an amazing cook, a loving grandmother, and someone who truly represents Tongan hospitality. Her dream is simple: to share her love of Tonga with every guest who stays with us.
